Reminding Ourselves Of The Reasons To Stop Smoking

So why should we quit smoking and go through weeks of cravings? To protect our health and boost our lung power right? It seems like an obvious question with a straightforward answer but it is a very good idea to write down all the benefits of becoming a non smoker before you start stopping, and have your list close to hand for those trying times, because there will be trying times, wo mamma!

Money to burn: using cigarettes is a very costly habit. Of course it doesn’t seem so bad when it is an individual purchase, a few pounds or dollars, but if you had all the money you spent in a year on smoking in your hands at one time, say for example between two and three thousand pounds, I very much doubt anyone would wish to hand over that money to a faceless company and in return all you get back is a rasping cough and lungs like wet toilet paper. Think about that for moment or three… It’s utter lunacy!

Planning an Outing for the Elderly

For the person receiving in home care, going places might seem like it is out of the question. This is far from the truth. there are literally hundreds of places that a person receiving care would enjoy going to. By narrowing down some of the choices, you can plan a great outing. This is especially helpful with the elderly that don’t leave the house often. For these people, the social interaction of leaving the home is extremely important. A few good choices for an outing includes a trip to the library, a restaurant, a museum, a movie theater, a park, or even a side trip to a nursing home to visit a friend that might be getting help there. All of these activities involve getting up and moving around. They are also activities that are wheelchair friendly just in case the person receiving care is unable to walk themselves.

Getting the Better of Blisters

Blisters occur because of three factors heat, moisture and friction. What tends to happen is your feet get hot and sweaty which causes your socks to stick to your feet causing your foot sock and the inside of your shoes to rub together causing a blister to form. Blisters can also Form as a result of fungal infections on the skin, allergic reactions or burns.

PREVENTION

A good comfortable pair of well fitting shoes well help prevent blisters. If you are prone to blisters then a good pair of synthetic wool socks will help as they will allow your feet to breath and not bunch up as much as cotton socks. A good over the counter antiperspirant is a good idea as keeping your feet dry is a third of the battle. Another option is foot lubricants as these help prevent chafing and reduce friction.
