Planning an Outing for the Elderly

For the person receiving in home care, going places might seem like it is out of the question. This is far from the truth. there are literally hundreds of places that a person receiving care would enjoy going to. By narrowing down some of the choices, you can plan a great outing. This is especially helpful with the elderly that don’t leave the house often. For these people, the social interaction of leaving the home is extremely important. A few good choices for an outing includes a trip to the library, a restaurant, a museum, a movie theater, a park, or even a side trip to a nursing home to visit a friend that might be getting help there. All of these activities involve getting up and moving around. They are also activities that are wheelchair friendly just in case the person receiving care is unable to walk themselves.

Home Medical Devices Which Measure Vital Signs

With the advances in manufacturing technology, many products found in a professional medical facility are now available for people to use at home. These products are ideal for both those suffering from health problems and those involved in fitness. Regardless of their specific needs, these medical devices are enabling people to take greater control of their health.

One of the most common devices used by people these days is a blood glucose monitor. The rapid increase in the number of individuals suffering from diabetes has led to a rapid increase in the number of these units sold. Having the ability to monitor blood sugar is critical for people which are required to take insulin should their blood sugar rise above acceptable parameters. While these devices are affordable themselves, the real expense for consumers is the test strips that read the actual blood glucose levels. Despite the expense, the convenience and health benefits of in-home blood glucose testing is noteworthy.

The Natural Mom’s Guide to Herbal Preparations for Internal Use

Are you a Mom who wants to know more about how you can use herbs internally to improve your own health or that of your children and families? If so, you are my kind of Mom, so pull up a chair. First of all, let me explain how herbs work: Herbs contain “active constituents” that create physiological changes within our body. These active constituents are called all kinds of standoffish-sounding names, like tannins, alkaloids, saponins, glycosides, bitter principles, etc. Let’s ignore all the scientific jargon for now. For now, let’s call these active constituents, “goodies,” and all a Holistic Mom needs to know is that in order to take advantage of the health benefits of herbs, these “goodies” have to be extracted and taken into the body somehow. So how do we do that?
